IEEE Morocco Blockchain Summit

AMTIC, INPT and the IEEE Morocco Section organized the first IEEE Morocco Blockchain summit, held at INPT, Rabat, Morocco, on the 25th of April 2019. Blockchain technology is a promising solution to increase digital trust.

It consists in an electronic distributed ledger that can log transactions of any type in a verifiable and permanent way without the intervention of a third party. The blockchain uses various tools such as cryptography, decentralized processing, digital identity, and resilience mechanisms to improve the trust between all the stakeholders. However, there are still challenges and hurdles to be overcome by the blockchain technology in order to be massively adopted.

This event was the opportunity for different actors to exchange, discuss research evidence, case studies, opportunities, challenges, and emerging directions related to the blockchain technology. It included keynote presentations from prominent speakers around the world, and an interactive panel discussion.

The speakers were diverse and international : Pindar WONG (Chairman of VeriFi Hong Kong), Sajida ZOUARHI (R&D Lead, ConsenSys, France), Petar POPOVSKI (Professor, Aalborg University, Denmark), Diego LOPEZ (Head, Technology Exploration, Telefonica, Spain), Reda CHERQAOUI (Founder and CEO, BugLab, France),Konrad WRONA (Military University of Technology, Warsaw, Poland), Badr BELLAJ (BlockChain Architect, and CTO of MChain, Morocco), Abdeladim BOUSSELAM (VP Underwriter Credit & Surety, Swiss Re, Switzerland)
